Every project manager should be concerned with two questions during the Execution and Control phase of their project:
- Are we on track to complete the work as we planned it?
- If not, what do we need to do to get back on track?
The project manager works with the project team during the Execution and Control phase to perform the project work as planned. The PM should constantly monitor the work to ensure the project stays on track.
When the PM finds the project is no longer going to meet its objectives, the project manager should work to identify the cause and seeks a solution to get the project back on track.
There may be a third question for the Execution and Control Phase, and that is, who do we keep informed of our progress and how often?
