Idea or Mind Mapping

A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information.  It is hierarchical and shows relationships among pieces of the whole. Wikipedia

Idea or mind mapping is a visual approach to representing ideas and concepts.  It is a graphical technique for visualizing connections between several ideas or pieces of information.  Proponents of this system believe that it helps one think, collect knowledge, remember, and analyze information.

Some use idea or mind mapping in conjunction with brainstorming to capture and write down new or related ideas that radiate from a central idea or concept.

To create an idea or mind map, write down the central theme or idea in the center of a blank page or wall chart.  From that point work outwards in all directions to create an evolving diagram of keywords, phrases, concepts, and facts using lines, arrows, branches, and colors to show the relationship stemming from the central idea or concept.
