Change is the one constant in every project, and it comes from all directions, both internal and external to the project. If you are like most project managers, you are always looking over your shoulder, watching for the next thing that’s going to impact your ability to produce the project deliverables, within budget, and on time.
Since we know change will happen, we can plan for it using the project managers secret weapon, flexibility.
We must be prepared to be flexible when dealing with our staff, the customer, our managers, and our stakeholders. There will be scope changes, schedule changes, and changes that come from who knows where.
Throughout it all, our best weapon is our ability to remain flexible.
